Douglas Andrew Bowser, of Sterling, VA., passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65 on Sunday, March 3. 2024 at his home in Loudoun County, after a recent diagnosis of cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, William Clyde Bowser, Jr., and Roberta Kathleen (Pooser) Bowser and his wife Madalyn (Topley) Falcone Bowser. Doug was born in Washington, DC on September 15, 1958, growing up in the DC suburbs of Annandale, VA. He spent 4 years with the family in Quito, Ecuador while his father was assigned to the US Embassy, after which the family returned to Annandale. Doug graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax in 1976. He attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. After leaving JMU, he tried his hand at several occupational pursuits before settling on Real Estate as his vocation of choice. Doug married Madalyn Falcone on June 25,1994 after a brief romance and lived in their home in Sterling, with Madalyn and her sons, Justin and Brian Falcone. Tragically, Madalyn passed away suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage in March of 1999 after an all too brief happy life with Doug. Doug moved in with their father in his home in Centreville, VA in 2010 for joint companionship and to help with his father’s care until he passed in 2018. He returned to his home in Sterling after the father’s affairs had been settled amongst the brothers. Doug’s sudden loss is mourned by his many friends who made and shared many wonderful memories with over the years. His passion was music and he was a highly skilled guitarist, singer and musician. He played lead guitar and often served as lead vocalist for a number of highly sought after and recognized local cover bands, from his high school days through the early 2000’s. Doug was a loving, giving friend and family member. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Doug’s life on Saturday, March 30 at 12:00 pm at the Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA, followed by a brief graveside service at the Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, VA, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother and father. Visitation hours will be held at the funeral home from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday March 29 and prior to the service from 11:00am-12:00pm on the 30th. Friends and family are invited back to the funeral home after the graveside service for light refreshments and continuing the celebration of Doug’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made to Cancer, Mental Health, Alzheimer's, or Hospice charitable organizations of their choice.
