To Dana’s family, I am so sorry for your loss of such a kindred soul.....she will forever be with you.....I was fortunate to have known Dana through her husband Mark, who worked with me for about 10 years at US Customs in West Palm Beach. I remember taking the US Customs speedboats and helicopters to the school where Dana worked. She was always so kind and appreciative of even simple things, such a kindred soul. And I loved working with Mark, who was an outstanding agent....he did so much for this country...both will be missed...Don Guthrie

To Dana’s family and friends,
I met Dana in 1986 at Armstrong Elementary in Reston, Va.   We both had the privilege of opening this brand new school. Dana was a beautiful teacher and she always had a smile on her face.  I know that she will be missed by so many. Hugs and prayers to all of you. 

Moving from Maryland to Sterling Park Virginia in August 1963, Dana was one of the first people I met and we instantly became friends along with Denise Gardner, (the three of us were inseparable) and a whole bunch of others....I have so many fond memories of the Collier household, singing and sharing so many fun times.  After the family moved to Arlington,  I would visit as often as I could, I remember playing by the stream behind the Columbus Street house and what a magical place we thought it was...I caught up with Dana and her Mom and Dad in Florida while visiting my parents...although we lost touch, Dana has always been in my thoughts and my heart, a friend for life......Truly saddened, My thoughts and prayers to Dana's children and to RIta, JC, Brian, Jack  and all the family and friends.

Kimmie and Mark, I know you all don't remember me, but your mom was one of my "first " friends. We met when we were 5 years old. My birthday is Sept. 20th, and your mom's was October 5th. The cut off for going in the first grade was October 1st, so I went to the first grade, and  your mom couldn't! When school was over with,  I would walk home, and your mom would be sitting on the corner waiting for me and Chris Delellis. Even after the Colliers moved away from Sterling Park, and lived at 128 N Columbus Street in Arlington, we would talk on phone and visit each other on weekends and during the summer. Your mom was one of my first friends!! We haven't talked much over the last 15 years or so, but she is always in my heart. I always thought she was so Beautiful!!! I  last saw your mom in Port Orange, FL at your grandma and Papa's wedding anniversary party. You children were very young, and I brought my daughters over. I just wanted to share those few things with you, and let you know I am so sorry that you have lost your mom.  Rita, please know how sorry I am.   JC, Brian and of course the wonderful leader of this family, Jack, I am so very sorry. I have such fond memories and am heart broken too.  
I would love to be standing by the piano right now, with Jack playing, and us all singing.............oh the memories!!!!! My love to all of you!!!!!

Dear Kimmie and Mark,

  I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.  She was a wonderful teacher and colleague who touched the lives of many.  I know her passing will leave a big hole in your lives.  May your memories of her sustain you as you move forward and adjust to life  without her.
