Ella Frances Chitwood

Ella was a loving mother, wonderful woman, and warrior to her children. She retired from National Tobacco in 2000. She loved to travel, enjoyed playing scrabble, clogging, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and played the piano there for many years. Ella was known for putting her family first.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ella Blond Alvey (Thomas), Ernest Portman (Bertha); husband of 40 years, Donald Ray Chitwood; brother, Charles Portman (Wanda); son-in-law, Jeffery King; and grandson-in-law, Doug Hopkins.

Ella leaves to cherish her memory to her daughters, Donna King, Bonnie Mills (Eddie); sons, Robert Chitwood, Kevin Chitwood; sisters, Mary Graeter (Kenny), Carol Nicholson (Tim); brother, Eddie Alvey (Kathi); grandchildren, Amy, Julie, Nina, Jordon, Travis, Rachel, Holly; great-grandchildren, Lucas, William, LeLand, Knox, and a host of many family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 2pm-8pm at Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, KY. Service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11:30am with a visitation starting at 9am at Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
