JOHNSTON, Pamela L. 53 died at home in Fairborn on 21 October, from pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare degenerative lung disease. Diagnosed in 2011, she continued to live well. She had the satisfaction of traveling to all 50 states and a number of countries, as well as running her own silk flower and craft business. Pam’s bright blue eyes got to see many wonders of the world. Her spirit propelled her through the twists of married life and the increasing limits of her human form. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Olivia (Preda) Maxin and leaves behind her husband, David Johnston, her brother, Randy Maxin (Cathy), and sister, Cindi (Tim) McDermitt. Nephews and nieces include Ryan Maxin and Patrick, Kristi, Jason, and Kelly McDermitt. Her father-in-law, Howard Johsnton, died 13 October 2014, but Agnes Johnston and her children, Kathy (Jack) Kaufman, Bill (Shawn), Tom (Mary Ellen), Barbara, and Karen (John) McCoy cherish her. Brother-in-law Daniel Johnston preceded Pam, but his sons, Michael, Scott, and Neil, along with Barbara’s daughter Mandy Misterka (Brian), and Karen’s Jimmy and Rachel provide an extensive, loving family. Pam will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Mary Help of Christians Church, 954 N Maple Ave, Fairborn, (937) 878-8353 at 10:00 on Saturday, 25 October. In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for your family or a total stranger, Pam will know.
