Mary Kathryn (Mette) Bogemann, age 82, of Springfield, Ohio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Wednesday October 2, 2024 in Fresno, California after a brief illness while visiting Yosemite National Park. She was born August 19, 1942 in rural Effingham County, Illinois, the daughter of August and Leona (Kroeger) Mette. She married Carl B. Mihlbachler September 1, 1962 then moved to Fairborn, Ohio and raised seven children. Following Carl’s death, she married Lawrence L. Bogemann on August 28, 2010 then enjoyed many world travels with him.
She was a longtime member and Eucharistic minister of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church; active in many volunteer programs including the Right to Life and Greene County Extension Homemakers. Mary’s love of books led her to work at the Fairborn Community Library from 1998 to 2010. She enjoyed flower gardening, cross stitch, traveling, and was an avid bowler. She was known for her love and kindness to family, friends, and strangers as well as her wonderful pies and cookies.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Lawrence L. Bogemann; 3 step daughters and sons in law, Cindy and Steve Burton of Lothian, Maryland, Melanie and Gregory Zemore of Franklin, Ohio, and Karen and Aaron Peelle, of Enon, Ohio; step son and daughter in law Jeff and Beth Bogemann of Centerville, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Steve, Rachel, Britney, Erika, Taylor, Kayley, Teri, Kortney, Kristina, and McKenna; six great grandchildren; four brothers in law, Donald Bogemann of Greenville, Indiana, Thomas Bogemann and James R. Bogemann, both of Waldron, Indiana, and John E. Bogemann of Shelbyville, Indiana; and two sisters in law, Alice Bogemann of Greenfield, Indiana and Carolyn Dagley, of Shelbyville, Indiana.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Carl Bernard Mihlbachler; yet is survived by their 2 daughters and a son in law, Lynne DeVito of Kingwood, Texas, and Kathryn and Brian Nasuta of Sparks, Maryland; 5 sons and daughters in law, Gary and Susan Mihlbachler of Montgomery, Ohio, Ron Mihlbachler of Carmel, Indiana, Thomas and Kathleen Mihlbachler of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Alan and Jen Mihlbachler of Spencerville, Ohio, and Michael and Rebecca Mihlbachler of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; 9 grandchildren, James, Lucas, Brett, Emma, Sarah, Laura, Hailee, Owen, and Sadie; 4 great- grandchildren, Riley, Annallynne, Kinslee, and Carter; one brother in law, Gerald Mihlbachler of Englewood, Colorado; and one sister in law, Janice Niemerg of Teutopolis, Illinois.
Mary is survived by her 2 sisters and brothers in law, Barbara and Joseph Durdel of Sigel, Illinois, and Janet and Terry Probst of Teutopolis, Illinois; one brother and sister in law, Thomas and Gail Mette of Green Creek, Illinois; and one sister in law, Margaret Mette of Teutopolis, Illinois.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Mette and Paul Mette; brother in law Leonard Niemerg; and two sisters in law, Barbara Mihlbachler and Darlene Mette.
Friends may call at the Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 East Main Street, Fairborn, Ohio from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 18th, 2024 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fairborn with Reverend Michael J. Holloran, Celebrant. Internment will be in Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N.
