JAMES “Jimmy” DOUGLAS CONLEY was born May 17,1961 to Howard D. Conley and Frances B. Conley. He passed unto his eternal home suddenly from natural causes on January 7, 2021. He was 59 years old. He was born in Dover, NH but in 1966, the family moved to Orlando, where he made lifelong friends. Jimmy graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1979 and was considered an "Oak Ridge Fox" in his senior year (see page 358 of the Pathfinder). Growing up, he loved riding motorcycles cross country and enjoyed spending time on the lake skiing behind the family boat. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and is survived by son, Sergeant First Class, James “Randy” Conley, grandson Ian, sister Nancy Rallis (John), Uncle Robert ("Lowell") Conley (Hazel), Aunt Lois Beverly, and numerous cousins around the country (including Alaska, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee). James was especially proud of Randy’s military accomplishments and service. Throughout Randy’s twenty-year Army career, he has served three tours overseas and has received numerous awards and recognitions. During a varied career, Jimmy worked as a laser technician for Laser Applications, Inc., as a long-distance truck driver ("professional tourist") for Stevens Transport, and as an equipment rental specialist for The Home Depot. Jimmy was an avid NASCAR fan and, as an adept and skilled mechanic, he enjoyed collecting and repairing vintage motorcycles and cars in his own garage. He was especially proud of passing on his love of motorcycles to his son and grandson. He was happiest when he would visit and get the opportunity to spend his time with them on quads and dirt bikes. He was generous with his time and expertise, always lending a hand when friends or family experienced mechanical troubles. He was known for his love of 80's pop culture (especially the Simpsons, Chris Farley, David Spade, Adam Sandler, and Eddie Murphy), and could recite quotes from his favorite characters with ease, reflecting in them his own unique brand of humor. He will be sorely missed. Due to the restrictions of Covid, the family is planning a private celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Jimmy’s honor.
