William Russell Lyon (Bill) passed away on April 27, 2022 at the age of 66 after a short battle with cancer with his wife Muriel by his bedside. Bill was born February 8, 1956, in San Rafael, California, and taken away too soon from family and friends.
Bill graduated from Luther Burbank High School, Sacramento, California in 1974. At an early age he worked for Hank's Bike Shop then to Sears Bike Shop. In 1978, Bill began his final career of 37 years working for Tony's Fine Foods as a truck driver and retired in 2015. Where he settled into a life of leisure at home on his recliner chair saying "I've worked hard my whole life," and got to enjoy taking spontaneous weekend trips and checking off a few bucket list places, Alaska and Niagara Falls.
Bill had a fun personality, he had a heart of Gold, he was someone you could depend on, no matter how much he complained, which he did often, but then again it wasn't Bill if he didn't tell you his concerns. One of his sayings was, "I'm not negative, I'm being realistic" and always ended it with that little nervous laugh. Bill loved doing his yards, when he was finished he would sit back and admire his manicured lawns and enjoyed a nice cold (Coors Banquet) beer.
Bill was a great family man, he adored his wife Muriel. They would have celebrated their 46th anniversary on May 29th. Bill loved his beautiful daughters, Mindy and Stacey. They gave him 3 precious grand babies, Lyle, Lexi and Jane, who they called papa. He also had two older grandchildren from his son in law Jesse that he welcomed in with open arms, Jesse Jr. and Madison.
Bill also leaves behind his two son-in-laws, Jesse and Jim, along with his five siblings, Richard, Debbie, Jimmy, MaryAnne (Bill), and Danny (Donna).
We will continue to honor his legacy by sharing his love of BBQ with others, doing our best to keep a manicured yard, knowing what route we are taking, checking the forecast daily, and keeping a tight pocketbook, as he was our personal grill master, gardener, google map, weatherman, and penny pincher.
Forever in our hearts.
