Our beloved mother, sister, friend, co-worker………Nancy J. Taylor passed away on February 28, 2023. She was 87 years old. She was born in Sacramento, California to her parents Richard and Madge Eakins. She grew up as the only girl with her three brothers Dick, Bill and Jim.
Nancy’s education began at Arden Elementary and continued at Grant High School. Later in life she graduated with an Associates Degree from American River College.
Nancy married Arthur LaVal Taylor in 1955. Into that marriage was born three children: Cameron, Tracy and Sharon. They were later divorced.
Nancy was employed for 36 years by the State of California as a Teacher Retirement Specialist. Her co-workers wrote: “She is remembered for her historical knowledge of the State Teacher Retirement System law and as a valued participant in the many transitions the organization made over her long career. Nancy is also remembered for her love of sewing and creating the many variations of crafts which she sold at craft fairs.” She looked forward to retirement as it would give her more time for her crafts. Eventually she found a new love which was quilting. Family, friends and care centers were recipients of her beautiful quilts.
Nancy loved a party. She had a love for her holiday parties, especially the yearly Christmas party at her house with all her friends and family. She had a passion for many Christmas-themed trees that were always on display at her home. Actually, any event was an occasion for a party…..a spring tea and a Halloween party in the fall were loved by all. As if this wasn’t enough to keep her busy, Nancy was bored with retirement. She got a job with the William Glenn Christmas Shop. She said that she paid the shop to work there because she she bought so much of the décor.
Nancy was a voracious reader. She loved novels by Baldacci, Grisham, Follett. Thor, Flynn and Dugoni. She owned so many books that she became the “Taylor Library” to her family and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dick and Bill and her ex-husband Arthur LaVal Taylor. She is survived by her three children Cameron, Tracy, Sharon and her husband Eddie, her brother, Jim and wife Jean and her four grandchildren.
