Linda Starr Gayton

Linda Starr Gayton was an expressive, optimistic, and loving individual. To everyone around her she seemed to always be happy, and she willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life she touched. She was easygoing and fun loving. For Linda, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark or the twinkle of an eye. And with just those simple gestures, she could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Linda really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.

She was born on December 1, 1942 in Washington, DC to James and Lilian (Tretheway) Mousted. Linda was raised to be warm, caring and friendly. Even as a child Linda had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around her. Linda along with her sister Gail were raised in the Sacramento area. They were constant playmates and over the years shared many wonderful memories together.

Life does not come without its’ ups and downs and Linda experienced some extremely painful times with the passing of her parents, James and Lilian (Tretheway) Mousted and sister Gail Morgan. Linda kept them ever present in her life by sharing her memories of them with her family.

Linda was blessed with 2 children, a son Scott, and a daughter Kim. Linda had the ability to focus her attention on the present moment. If she was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of her attention was directed. She was not just their mother she was also a true friend to both Scott and Kim.

The family grew once Scott married Jacque and Kim married Mike. Not only did Linda gain a new son and daughter, she was once again blessed with four grandchildren; grandson Justin (Chrystelle) Reinolds and granddaughters, Amanda (Jason Sears) Reinolds and Angelica and Gabrielle Philpott, and three great grandchildren; Brody Reinolds and Jayden and Alivia Sears. Linda had many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Linda leaves behind her beloved Royce Carr. They were a couple that shared love and laughter over the years. Linda and Royce cherished one another and spent much time together enjoying various activities.

Linda enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were golfing, dancing, bowling, camping, gardening and traveling. and she loved sharing her hobbies with her family and friends.

Linda's service was greatly valued by the organizations to which she belonged. Throughout her later years Linda was an active member of the Healing Circle for Ovarian Cancer and a sober member of AA for 22 years.

Linda brought joy to all of those around her. She never had a mean bone in her body. She loved to have a good time and was an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of things. She loved to share her energy, wit, and her zest for all of her activities with her friends and family. Linda Starr Gayton lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. She will be remembered with a smile.
