Kathy Lynn Wilson (age 71) passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2022 in the arms of her husband and best friend, Charles “Chuck” Wilson.
Kathy was born in Santa Maria, CA on April 17, 1950 to the parents of Arthur “Smokey” and Marilyn Joan Silva. She graduated from San Luis Obispo High and later married her high school boyfriend, Timothy (Tim) Deurloo. Together they had three children, Timothy, Michelle and Gabriel. After living in San Luis Obispo for several years they headed north and settled in the Sacramento area in the late 1970’s. A few years later her marriage to Tim ended, but Kathy remained in the area where she raised her children and regularly attended all of their school activities and sports events.
In the early 1980’s, Kathy embarked on several successful career journeys. From sales and advertising to real estate and home appraising, she was determined to do well for the sake of her children and herself. It was sales, though, where she found her niche and passion to achieve more than she ever thought possible. It was also during this time in her life she met her future husband and the love of her life, Chuck Wilson.
Kathy and Chuck dated for several years before eventually marrying on New Years Day, 1988. Combined they spent 40 years together supporting each other as they lived out their dreams. They enjoyed car racing and traveling, home projects and hosting family gatherings. Some of Kathy’s hobbies included: building elaborate miniature doll houses, interior design and even writing novels for herself and her family. One of Kathy’s greatest accomplishments was realizing her childhood dream of owning her very own beach house. It was at this beach house where many summertime family vacations were held, memories were made, and where she could have all of her family together. It also allowed her to relive her own childhood where she spent many years in the sand and surf down at Avila beach in San Luis Obispo, California.
Above all, Kathy’s greatest enjoyment in life was her family. Living close to all three of her children, she enjoyed endless days with her grandchildren. From summertime pool days, holiday bake-offs, trips to Disneyland, and of course vacations at the beach, Kathy surrounded herself by the ones she loved and the ones who loved her the most.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Chuck, three children, Timothy, Michelle and Gabe, brother Gary, sister Jodi, five grandchildren, one great grandson, several nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death and welcomed in Heaven by her father (Smokey), mother (Joan), sister (Shauna), aunt (Arlene “Tyke”), niece (Nicki), and many more friends and loved ones she lost along the way.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 am February 23, 2022 at the Mount Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. The service will be open to all family and friends. Of note, Kathy’s family has not yet set a date for the Celebration of Life which will take place later in the year.
