Elizabeth "Corti" Cody

Elizabeth (Corti) Cody, 99 yrs old, passed away peacefully on June 15,2022. Born in San Francisco on November 30, 1922 to Guilio and Columbina Corti. She had 2 brothers, Frank and Gino(both deceased). She was married to Jack Workman in 1945 (deceased) and had three children, Stephen (deceased), Marcia (spouse Dwight Hastings)and David. Together, Jack and Elizabeth owned and operated a market in San Francisco where she had many duties, including doing the bookkeeping. Later in life, she married Stuart Cody(deceased). Elizabeth and Stuart were very active in the Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans. They lived a short time in Kentucky and Maryland as part of Stuart’s job, eventually returning to Sacramento.

She was a first generation San Franciscan, athletic and outgoing. Her passion for sports, particularly baseball, was only exceeded by her love of dancing. Growing up in San Francisco, her brothers frequently took her to Italian dance clubs and baseball games. She was a diehard Giants fan. She had a very active social life, was an excellent cook, and loved her family. She was a big influence in many people’s lives, both inside and outside the family. She was strong in her convictions and beliefs, had a keen sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She will be sorely missed.

All services will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park,8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks,95628 on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am. At 11:00 am, Divine Savior priest will provide a celebration of her life and spiritual service, followed by interment and final blessing. Reception will immediately follow ending at 3:00 pm.
