In the late 1920's Jason Douglas, Bonnie's father, a single parent, gathered his eight children, packed the family's aging automobile and travel trailer with all their possessions and headed to far-off California. Once in California, the family followed the crops, picking fruit for their income. Eventually, as they reached adulthood, family members individually settled in various areas of northern California.
Bonnie stayed connected to agriculture, packing oranges for a few seasons, then becoming employed by what was to become Blue Diamond Growers, the large almond nut processing plant in Sacramento. She would continue her employment there for more than 30 years before her retirement. During that time, she formed many lasting friendships with her co-workers.
She was an avid S.F. Giants baseball fan beginning in 1958. She followed the team so closely that, even in the weeks prior to her passing she was still watching every televised game possible.
Predeceased by her parents, her siblings, her husband, and granddaughter Sally, she is survived by son Ronald George (Linda) and daughter Kathleen Hartley, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Special thanks to caregivers Siale, Sela, Fita and Soko for their devoted companionship.
A memorial will be held at 11:00 am July 24th, 2021, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California 95628. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
