Arnold Shirley was born on April 2, 1944 to the late Ollie Dewey Shirley and Freddy May Jones Shirley in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of six children born to this union.
He received his formal education in the Chicago public schools and graduated from Blue Island community school now known as Dwight D. Eisenhower high school. In 1966 he enlisted into the United States Army where he served his country proudly until he was honorably discharged.
Arnold met the love of his life Deborah Ann Richardson and was married on Valentine’s Day and their love has flourished for over forty years. Together they have nurtured and loved three beautiful children Calvin, LaShunda and Chanel.
Arnold was a family man who cherished the time he shared with them all and especially the grandchildren his pride and joy.
On August 19, 2015 God with his families love surrounding him God laid him down gently.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Rotel and LaVerne Shirley.
His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of his wife Deborah Shirley, son Calvin Richardson, daughters LaShunda (Davis) Felton and Chanel (Paul) Hankerson, grandchildren Curtis J. Pointer, Madison and Makenzie Felton and Londyn Hankerson on the way, brother Sanford Shirley, sisters Gloria Ivy and Gale Shirley, “special mother-in-law,” Sarah Richardson, best friends Ronald Brown Sr., Flarzell S. Moore Jr., next door neighbors James and Verdell Crayton. A host of treasured nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
