She died peacefully May 3rd 2022 in Edmonds WA after a fearless battle with Glioblastoma fighting together with the good Doctors and staff at Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill. Shannon’s existence was centered on her faith in Jesus Christ, her family and friends whom she loved dearly as a sister, mother, aunt, cousin, friend, pet lover and partner.
An Irish saying “it’s in the shelter of each other’s shadows that we live.” Shannon cared for her amazing daughter Nicole her entire life and they were inseparable. She organized Holiday dinners for over 700 unhoused people in Everett with the assistance of the Boeing Corporation and had an undying passion in her support for people with disabilities through the National Down’s syndrome society.
Shannon was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, her grandfather immigrated to Seattle from County Down in 1907 to work on the railroad. She marched year after year in the St Patrick’s Day parade with the ‘Irish Princess’ up 4th avenue under the Ulster banner and celebrated with the Irish Heritage Club.
Shannon attended St John's grade school playing on the CYO championship girls volleyball team coached by Sister Sheila. She graduated in 1975 from Ballard High and is thought to be the school's first female drum major leading the marching band, also co-leading the All City marching band. Shannon studied music at Western Washington University and was a long time Whidbey Island resident. She commuted to Boeing’s Everett plant on the ferry to do design work on the 700 series of commercial airplanes. She earned a degree at Skagit Valley college in 2001 and went to work for Verizon wireless.
Shannon and Nicole enjoyed many adventures together, birthdays at the space needle, numerous concerts and theme park trips and hosting family dinners. Social media was a big
part of Shannon’s life these past years and many family members and friends left comments including, “Shannon was the light of my day, her shenanigans with her daughter were delightful”.
Shannon was preceded in death by her mother Barbara and father John. She is survived by her daughter Nicole, brothers Vincent and William, niece Hannah Murray, her mother Elizabeth Murphy and Nicole’s father Tim Russeff, numerous friends and former colleagues.
A celebration of life and livestream will be held Friday August 5th 1pm at Evergreen Funeral Home Everett Washington 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA
