It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Phillip Budnik, cherished son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us far too soon at the age of 19. Born in Everett, Washington on October 3, 2004 to Leonid and Yelena Budnik. Phillip was an extraordinary young man whose vibrant spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him.
From an early age, Phillip’s life was filled with promise and deep-rooted connections. He began his high school journey at Glacier Peak, but then with some resistance transferred to Fellowship Christian School, where he cultivated lasting friendships and met his high school sweetheart, who would later become his beloved wife.
Passionate about sports, Phillip stood tall—both in stature and heart—playing basketball for FCS, he was the tallest on his high school team. His height made him a standout on the court, but it was his dedication and sportsmanship that left a lasting impression on teammates and coaches alike.
Fueled by a profound desire to serve his country, Phillip pursued his dream of joining the military. He eagerly took his GED to expedite his journey toward becoming a Marine, a path he had set his heart on since the ninth grade. In the US Marine Corps, Phillip fulfilled his aspiration, quickly becoming a beloved member of both boot camp and his assigned unit. In his 1 ½ years in the Marine Corps Phillip had earned the rank on Lance Corporal (LCPL).
His vibrant personality, coupled with his undeniable skill, earned him the title of undisputed boxing champion within his unit—an achievement that symbolized his determination and hard-headed tenacity. Yet beyond the ring, it was his amiable nature and unwavering loyalty that garnered the respect and camaraderie of many friends in the Corps.
But perhaps one of Phillip's most cherished roles was that of the "cool uncle." His nephews and niece held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in spoiling them, sharing laughter and fun at every opportunity. They took note when he arrived and surrounded him as they were drawn to be close to him as they desired to be by his side to enjoy spending quality time with their Uncle Phillip.
Survived by his devoted wife, Loris and daughter, Valeria who was born only 2 days after he passed; his mother, Yelena; father, Leonid; 3 brothers, Anton, Tim and Efim and his numerous nephews and a niece who will forever remember the warmth and joy their uncle brought into their lives. His legacy of love, laughter, determination, and dedication is etched into the memories of all who knew him.
As we say our final goodbyes, we hold him in our hearts, celebrating a life marked by love, dreams, and an unyielding spirit. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege to journey alongside him.
Rest in peace, dear Phillip
