The world is a little less sweet after the loss of our mom and our “Gram,” Patricia Jean Howell. She passed away on December 1st, surrounded by loved ones who were comforted by her legacy of love and the sweetest cookies anyone could ever taste.
Born on March 21st, 1935, after graduating from Everett High School in 1953, she married Lee “Poppy” Howell with whom she raised three children. Pat worked most of her life as a dedicated checker, starting at Matteson’s Grocery Store until retirement from QFC. For over 40 years, she was a beloved fixture at these stores with an undeniable talent to make friends with just about anyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. She brightened the lives of so many people in the community with her delightful charm and delicious treats that will remain a lasting symbol of her generosity.
When she wasn’t working, she could be found tending to her award-winning yard, which for many years boasted an array of vibrant colors and fragrant blooms. She kept her yard and house immaculate, decorating every holiday, especially Christmas, with incredible decorations, which transformed her corner of the neighborhood into a festive sight enjoyed by every passerby; her decorations will be missed by all who had the pleasure of seeing them.
In addition to her family and friends, her spirit of giving, which touched the lives of many, will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her children, son Rick (Barb) and daughter Vicki; her grandchildren, Whitney, David, and Eric; her great-grandchildren, Mei and Noa; her sister Berlene, as well as nieces, nephews, and her many friends, and her beloved cat, Misty, who never left her side, all of whom she dearly adored. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee, and her son, Dennis.
