He married his first wife Dorothy, and relocated to Kirkland, Washington in the 1950s, where he lived in the same house for 62 years, raising 5 children. In 2001, he married Linda Field who he was married to until he passed away at home.
Greg was an engineer and worked on a variety of mechanical and drafting projects including, designing tools, railcar engineering, military vehicle engineering, and designed permanently-installed exterior maintenance equipment for high rise buildings. He was a perfectionist in his job.
He put in a lot of hours keeping up the yard and house. He did a major house remodel by himself by reading how to do it in books and asking the city inspectors along the way.
He spent 3 years restoring a small airplane, a 1947 Aeronca Chief. It was just a shell with an engine. He did the restoration in the back yard workshop after, again, reading how to do it in books. When it was done he had it brought to a small airport to put the wings on and the engine in. He loved his little plane and took many people up for flights.
Greg loved to read and once read a whole set of encyclopedias. He liked music, art, drama and travel. He walked every day and rode his bicycle whenever he could. He loved his many pets, which he spoiled endlessly.
Greg is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Jill and Ann and son Loren, four grandchildren and Linda’s four children and ten grandchildren. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel Harris, his first wife Dorothy, his son Howard and his daughter Irene.
A private service was held at Heritage Hall in Kirkland, Washington on May 26th 2019.
