Ethel Cornelia Parker, 91, of Kirkland Washington, passed away November 24, 2018. Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett on Wednesday, November 28th at 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home on Thursday November 29th at 11:00 am with Bishop Richard D. Bear officiating. Lunch and reception following.
Ethel was born on August 8, 1927 in Ridgefield, Washington to Cornelious and Anna Oberg. Ethel was deaf as a young girl and attended the Washington school for the deaf in Vancouver from kindergarten thru second grade. She went on to graduate from Ridgefield high school and then Northwest Bible Institute in Seattle where she graduated in 1950.
Ethel served as a missionary in Hawaii during the 1950’s where she taught Sunday School and loved ministering to children. She also met a handsome Navy man in Hawaii, John Parker, whom she soon married. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading, and she had hand-written and assembled many small booklets filled with inspiration which she shared with many people throughout her life.
Ethel had an incredible strength that got her thru many years of severe arthritis. She generously gave and was known to send her last five dollars to others in need. Ethel’s great faith in God, amazing love for her family, and sincere gratitude for everything in life are her legacy that will long be remembered and cherished by her family and those who knew her.
Ethel is predeceased in death by her parents Cornelious and Anna Oberg, her husband, Johnney Parker, and her brother Larry Oberg. Ethel is survived by her sister DeLois Oberg-Keightley, and her five children: David Parker, P. Timothy Parker, Susan Bear, Deborah Yaros, and Mark Parker. Ethel had 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
