Ella Louise Anderson, 88, a native of Plaquemine Louisiana, and resident of Everett, Washington passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022. Ella was born on August 29, 1933, to the late Bernice Armstead and Louis Anderson.
Ella was baptized at an early age at Bethel A.M.E Church in Plaquemine, Louisiana. She graduated from Iberville High School and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She moved to Everett, Washington in 1970. Later Ella joined Bailey A.M.E of Everett Washington and was a dedicated member. Ella started her career at Washington State Employment Security. After working for Washington State for 25 years, she retired in 1995. As a Job Corp representative with the state of Washington, she helped the youth get a fresh start in life. She worked as a “welfare-to-work” counselor encouraging and motivating single parents to become employed, self-sufficient, and make a better future for themselves and their children.
Miss Ella was active in her community. She was a member of an international organization that represented employment security employees. She was a charter member of the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee, served on the Snohomish County Council on Aging. She was voted “Woman of the Year” in 1995 by the Everett Zonta Club. Ella also served on the Minority Advisory Committee for Everett Community College. In 2010 she was named “Outstanding Person of the Year” at the Nubian Jam for her dedicated service. Miss Ella received the “Carl Gipson NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2013.
She is survived by her two daughters, Angela Hoard (Roy) Lynnwood, Washington and Carla Washington, Plaquemine, Louisiana; two brothers, Louis Goodman, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Robert Goodman, Plaquemine, Louisiana; three grandchildren, LaRoy Hoard (Michelle) Hong Kong, Lance Pack, Brent Pack of Plaquemine, Louisiana. Two stepchildren Stacy Washington Everett, Wa. & Arthur Washington Jr Plaquemine, La. Four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Goodman, father, Louis Anderson, and brother, Alfred Goodman Jr.
