Earl William Johnson, age 99, of Everett, Washington passed away on Monday August 26, 2019. Earl was born September 19, 1919 in Minot, North Dakota and was the eldest male in a family of 10. His parents met in Saskatchewan Canada and moved to North Dakota, where they had 3 girls and 5 boys. He attended school until the 8th grade, and then went into the Civilian Conservation Corps where he performed public works for their area. In his early twenties he enlisted in the Army and served in WWII overseas in the South Pacific from 1941-1943. In 1943 he was returned to the states to recieve medical care and was then honorably discharged from the Army. In the following years he worked for the Merchant Marines where he was a fireman on an oil tanker. For his next job he moved to Minnesota where he took classes to become a welder, and was then hired by the Great Northern Railroad. He was transfered to Seattle to work as a Carman for the railroad which consisted of maintaining and fixing rail cars. He sustained a serious injury at the rail yard which took him months to recover. After his recovery he then was hired at Marcos to weld in the ship yards. In 1973 Earl married Coralee in a small chapel wedding in Seattle which included them, the minister, and immediate family. He retired from Marcos at the age of 60 in 1980. And in 1988 Coralee and Earl moved to Everett, Washington where she still resides. His biggest hobbies were fishing, winning big at the casino, and eating chocolate and ice cream! He loved his family and took great care of them and was friends with all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.
A viewing for Earl will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203. A reception will occur Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203.
