Catherine Mary Murphy Carpenter was born in Fort Edward, NY to Patrick and Clara (Cassant) Murphy, February 10th, 1923. She loved sharing stories of her childhood in Fort Edward; there was always family and friends around, and never a locked door. Mom loved being outside in her yard and knitting us sweaters, socks, and mittens. She fiercely loved her family and was always ready for hugs. St. Patrick’s Day was and will always be a cherished holiday with lots of laughing, music, and corned beef.
Catherine and her husband John were high school sweethearts and married while he was in the Navy during WWII. They moved to Everett, WA because of John’s employment with Scott Paper Company, and also spent a year in Melbourne, Australia to help with the start up of a new mill. Their favorite spot to vacation was Hawaii, a place to relax and rest. Catherine is preceded by her parents, brother William, sister Rita Brady, her daughter Claire, and husband John. She leaves behind children John (Linda), Susan (Mark) Pickard, Robert, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
