Anne grew up in Seattle in the loving family of Melvin and Hannah Holland with her sister, Nancy. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1966 and furthered her education at Western Washington University and the University of Washington.
Following graduation, Anne began her teaching career at Inglemoor High School. She enjoyed her entire teaching career of 35 years at Inglemoor, teaching business education and computer technology. Anne developed lifelong, close friendships with many of her teaching colleagues.
In the summer of 1974, Anne married Stan Mitchell Jr. and cherished his children, Lori and Mark, as her own. She enjoyed years of family trips to Lake Chelan, and happily supporting Lori and mark in their activities.
Anne was the consummate dog lover and cherished her time with Woof, Buster, Suds and finally Lt. Dan. These dogs held such a special place in her heart. Bird watching was another one of Anne’s hobbies. An annual trip to Bird Fest in Leavenworth with her sister, Nancy, was always a highlight of her year.
In her retirement years, Anne loved hiking, snowshoeing in the Pacific Northwest and exploring the world traveling to Germany, Austria Iceland, the United Kingdom and especially to her ancestral home of Norway.
She also enjoyed reading and monthly gatherings with her book club, Book Babes, the past 20 years. Another interest was her participation at the Mill Creek YMCA and the new friends she met there.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Hannah Holland and by her husband, Stan Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving sister, Nancy Young, her stepchildren, Lori Mitchell and Mark Mitchell, grandchildren, Matt, Caitlin, Brendan and Briana, her nieces; Lesley (Johnny) Chavkin, Michelle (Jim) Riley and her nephews; Michael (Tamara) Young and Patrick Young; her great nieces and nephew were special to Anne including Honor, Liberty, Vivienne, Miriam, Estelle, Caitlin and Tom; and sister-in-law, Sally Barnum.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 3:00 at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evergreen Health Foundation Hospice Care or the Whippet Rescue and Placement (WRAP).
Anne was dearly loved and will be missed forever by her family, many friends and her neighbors. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
