Angela Athena Blocker also known to some as Angie, Sister, Auntie, and Yaya received her wings on Wednesday September 25, 2019 at 7:53AM. During her final days she was surrounded by close family and friends.
Angie was born July 12, 1961 in Oakland, CA to Marriam D. Adams and Lee Blocker. Angie was the eldest of five siblings. She would later move to Seattle during her teenage years with her family, where she would graduate from Cleveland High School. Angie later attended Washington State University! Go Cougs! She valued education and was an avid reader. However she made a huge sacrifice to leave college to help her mother raise her two nieces Marjona M. Oliver, Marriam D. Oliver and nephew Jon-Paul F. Oliver. Although she was no longer in school her love for reading and education would influence her nieces to become avid readers as well. Even though Angie's sacrifices caused her to put her own dreams on hold to ensure her "babies" would not be separated in the system, her "babies" would later go on to various colleges in honor of her. Angie's sacrifices didn't stop there, she also helped raise her great niece Halle D. Oliver. Yaya (as Halle called her) enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and of course reading to Halle, hence Halle's advance academic skills today!
Angie worked for Home Depot for 20+ years. She loved her job, even the crazy hours it involved. Home Depot was her other family. When Angie would take time for herself, she enjoyed pampering herself and her mom to mani/pedis, attending Mariner games, watching the Cougs and Seahawks play, cheering for the underdogs no matter what. Angie and her best friend Sandee always made time to stay young at heart by taking trips to attend countless concerts to their favorite musical artists and laughing on the phone like two schoolgirls!
Angie was the most devoted, caring, loyal, giving, funny and compassionate person anyone could ever know. Her character was evident every single day she walked this earth. Her love and support to her family and friends will never go unforgotten. Her tickled laugh will never be unheard, her bright red lipsticks will never be unseen, homemade salsa will never go untasted, her touch will never be unfelt and the memory of Angela Athena Blocker will never be erased.
Angie also leaves behind brother Whitney Blocker, sisters: Mary Blocker, and Jacqueline Oliver. Nephews and great nephews: Andrew Sims Sr., Jon-Paul Oliver, Demario Jackson, Jamal Hurley, Andrew Sims Jr. and Ajuan Sims. Nieces and great nieces: Marjona Oliver, Marriam Oliver, Tara Blocker Jahryn Browne, Kimani Guernsey, Freedom Richards, Amari Word. God Children: Antonio Middleton Jr. and Laurinda Athena White.
Angela was met with her wings by brother Andrew (Daddy Drew) Wilson, God parents Francis and Ed Ealy and close friend Benita Litt.
