She graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Dietetics. Together, with her husband, she raised three children in Hopkinsville, KY. After her husband’s death, she moved to Evansville in 2004. She loved working puzzles with her sisters. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Louisville Cardinals basketball games with her grandchildren. Most recently she was excited and proud to meet and hold her new great-granddaughter.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Hughes McCord, in 2004; and sister, Marilee Moorhatch in 2014.
She is survived by her sons, David Hughes (Janice) McCord of Nashville, TN and Gregory Scott (Beth) McCord of Evansville, IN; daughter, Catherine Ann McCord (Ricky) Jackson of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Rachael, Melissa, Ryan and Marie McCord of Nashville, TN, Sarah Beth McCord (Eric) Moreau, Mitchell and Rob McCord all of Evansville, IN and Mark Jackson of Seattle, WA and Katie Jackson of Richardson, TX; great-granddaughter, Leona Beth Moreau; and sister, JoAnne Field.
Services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, July 5, 2014, at First Christian Church, 2601 S. Walnut St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240, officiated by Rev. Nathan Brown, Sr., with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN and Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at First Christian Church.
