William Gayle Smith

William Gayle Smith, 71 of Evansville, IN passed away comfortably under the care of family, Monday, February 11, 2019. He was born on February 14, 1947. Bill graduated from Reitz High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army for 16 years and was stationed in Germany, France, Crete, Greece and throughout the U.S. Bill retired from the Owensboro Post Office. He loved bowling, pool and co-founded the Owensboro APA. Bill loved his family and grandkids and made friends easily. He was known for his quick wit and humor. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie E and Violet M. Smith; brothers, Bruce, Robert, David and Jessie R. Smith; sisters, Helen Fowler Huff, Charlotte Robertson, Jeanette Smith and infant Norma. He is survived by his Children; daughters, Melody A. Greenwell and Jennifer Summers; sons, William B. Smith and Michael Smith; grandchildren, Meshea and Kyler Greenwell, Jordan and Jaydon Summers; brothers, Les, Joe and Tom Smith; sisters, Eleanor Baysinger, Rebecca Bellinger, Rhonda Bowling and Diane Lynch; numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Homer T. Bradford.
