Virginia Mae (Elsfelder) Stanley, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015. She was born March 15, 1926, in Evansville, to the late Christ and Fronie (Neuman) Elsfelder. She was raised on a farm in Posey County, which was always an important part of her life.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Parker Settlement. She was involved in many activities there, especially the Women’s Guild. Virginia had many church friends that she shared many enjoyable bus trips with, as well as their monthly Bunco group. She was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Home and retired after almost 30 years of service at Parkview Care Center.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles “Gene” Stanley, in 1973; and twin grandchildren, Hans and Gretchen Stanley.
She is survived by Doris, Tim, Lance, Toni, Kade, Trey, Bret, and Kolt Buecher; Rick, Annette, Chris, Angie, Jordan, and Parker Stanley; Sarah, Curt, Justin, and Connor Stanley; Nic and Diane Stanley; Vic, Lori, and Nikki Stanley; and her furry buddy, Sophie. Virginia loved all her family dearly and was so proud of them all.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Monday, January 5, 2015, at Alexander Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Michael Erwin, with burial to follow. Friends may visit Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the cemetery.
