Terry “Maggott” Magan, 67, of Evansville, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Evansville on November 16, 1956.
He was a member of the Constellation Masonic Lodge #748, Hadi Shrine, and American Legion Kapperman Post #44. He was the founder of “Maggott's” annual New Year’s Day motorcycle ride for the last 34 years. Terry loved spending time with his son, cross-country motorcycle rides with Betty, working on motorcycles with Dan Schuler, bartending at Darmstadt Inn, his dogs and playing with his grandchildren. Terry was also known for his signature voice and never met a stranger.
Terry was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Magan; twin brother, Gary Magan; mother, Helen (Elsfelder) Magan; father, Alex Magan; and sister, Linda Hendricks.
He is survived by his significant other of 17 years, Betty Schmitt; son, Craig Magan; sisters, Nancy Miller (John), Alexis Roberts (Bobby); step-sons, Matthew Alexander (Laura), Kyle Alexander (Lindsey); grandchildren, Owen, Victor, Ivan, Kason, and Declynn; and nieces and nephews.
There will be a 2:30 pm Shriners Walk Through and a 2:45 pm Masonic Service before the funeral service at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., Evansville IN, officiated by Dan Schuler. Terry's last ride and funeral procession to Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery will follow his service where Military Rites will be performed by the Kapperman Post.
Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Terry L. Magan Memorial Fund to assist with expenses.
