Stephen Alan Gates, 81, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born August 15, 1939, in Evansville, IN, to the late Sherill and Velma (Junker) Gates.
Stephen graduated from Reitz High School in 1957. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox as a tool grinder and after retiring, he started a second career at Walmart, which he greatly enjoyed. Stephen enjoyed fishing and coin collecting. He was a devoted family man, who always worked hard and put family first.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Wilson.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arvell (Croft); sons, Sargent (Faith) and their children, Hope (Richard), Hayden and Holden; Dennis Sargent; daughter, Kelly Gates (Don Shymanski) and children, Grace, Tess, Megan (Cavin) and David; and son, Jeff Gates, and children, Nathan and Evan.
Private Services will be held.
Contributions may be made to Linda E. White Hospice House.
