Sonia Lou Townsend

Sonia Townsend, 62, of Evansville, Indiana was pardoned from her earthly duties on December 28, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jeff Townsend, and 3 children, Richard “Rick” Keller, Kathalene “Katie “ Keller Riney (Tobin) and Molly McDonald. She had 3 grandchildren with whom she loved very much, Allie Keller, Connor McDonald and Andersen Helming, nephews Crayton (Jaclyn) and Brandon (Rachel) Petersen, grandniece Kaylie Petersen and grandnephews Malaki and Dalton Petersen and 2 dogs, Stanley and Rudy. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will also mourn her loss. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Barb Petersen, and her brother, Eric Petersen. Sonia was a one of kind woman who put family before everything else. She worked in the transportation industry for over 30 years and has been employed for the last several with Averitt Express at Shoe Carnival Distribution Center and enjoyed the lifelong friendships she made during this time. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and Hadi Motor Belles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her infectious smile will always be cherished. A funeral service will be held Monday January 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Van Williams, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit Sunday January 2, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her family would like to thank the special people at Deaconess Hospital emergency department and unit 3900 ICU for their amazing care during this difficult time, with a special thank you to Sarah Freeman, NP, Shawn Brown, RN and Seth Esmon, RN. Your kindness, compassion and efforts did not go unnoticed.
