Scott William Sieben

Special Agent Scott W. Sieben left this world on June 2, 2015. He was born in Terre Haute, IN, as the fourth of six children to Melvin and Elaine Sieben. He proudly served in the US Marines from 1979-1983. He obtained his Liberal Arts degree from East Carolina University and the University of Illinois (Chicago) before completing his Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. As an ordained minister he served in Milan, Italy from 1992-1996. Before beginning his career with the DEA, he further sharpened his cross-cultural skills while working with the international patient program at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Upon completing the DEA academy at the age of 36, Scott began his DEA career out of the Raleigh, NC office in 1997. From 1997-2007 he served the DEA in Tampa, FL. Combining his linguistic gifts and international interests he returned to Italy with the DEA at the US Embassy in Rome Italy from 2008-2013. He lived in Evansville, IN with Linda, his wife and partner of 28 years, and his beloved dog, Maggie. He is the proud father of three sons, Caleb (26), Nick (24), and Nate (22). Scott is survived by his mother, Elaine Sieben; and siblings, Gregory (Heidi), Michael (Rosemary), Sandy (Richard) Bloemker, Nancy (David) Koehler, and Roger (Jennifer). Uncle Scott was loved by many, many nieces and nephews. His father, Melvin, preceded him in death in 2013. Scott relished life. Spending time with family and friends. Sharing his knowledge and love for God. Organizing anything within reach. Running with Maggie. Sharing his frugal German perspective. Giving counsel when needed. Resting and trusting in God. Loving hard. Working hard. Playing hard. Praying hard. Always enjoying the moment that he was in. Scott and Linda were joyful magnets and made fast friends all over the world. Scott is a song with no end because of the people he touched and changed with his borderless, accepting love and example. He fought hard after his accident. He was being called elsewhere. He was more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37-39) Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Avenue. Friends may visit Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue. In lieu of flowers, Scott's coworkers established the Sieben Family Benefit Fund at any Old National Bank to help with medical expenses incurred; any surplus money will go to the DEA Survivor’s Benefit Fund.
