Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Opperman
Sandra “Sandy” (Timberlake) Opperman, 76, passed away in her home on January 19, 2020 in Bluffton, SC with her family at her side. Sandy was born on May 16, 1943 in Evansville, IN to her parents Kenneth and Dora Timberlake. She attended Reitz High School where she was active in band. She then continued her education at Evansville College where she met and fell in love with Larry Opperman. They were married July 18, 1964. Sandy traveled extensively as an Air Force wife, but always found a home in every local church she attended. Sandy was active in the Altar Guild, children’s programs, choir, and anything that was asked of her. She was the mother of three active children who kept her busy with sports activities, school functions, church groups, music lessons and endless projects. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Timberlake, her mother Dora Timberlake and a sister Sylvia Hawes. Sandy is survived by her husband Larry of 55 years; three children: Cheryl Stanley (Robert), Ann Crager, L. Don Opperman Jr. (Anita); four grand-children: Laura Scalone (Vincent), R. Allen Crager Jr. (Rachel), Cassandra Crager, and Elizabeth Adams (Zach); two great-grandchildren Evelyn “Evie” Scalone; Augustus "Gus" Crager; sisters Judy Carr, Virginia Plump (Wayne). Along with many nieces, nephews and friend who loved her. Funeral services will be held in Evansville at Alexander West Chapel Monday, January 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may visit Sunday 4-7 p.m. and 9 a.m. until service time on Monday. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Faith Lutheran Church in Beaufort, SC on February 1, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care of the Low Country in Bluffton SC.
