Samuel L. Sloat, Jr., (8-24-23 to 6-14-11), of Evansville, left this plain for the Heavenly Hills to be with the Father and loved ones gone before (Jn. 3:16, Ps. 16:11, Ps. 19:14). He was the first son of three, in Evansville to Lola and Samuel Sloat.
He attended Delaware Grade School and Central High School. He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1952 and was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War Conflict. He then became an employee of, and retired from, SIG&E Co. Samuel was a long-term member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as a Trustee for many years.
Sam was preceded in death by his first wife, Roselia Frances; parents; and brothers, John A. and Raymond Eugene Sloat.
He is survived by his wife, Adrienne J. Sloat; son, Samuel L. Sloat III (Debby) of Newburgh and Richard F. Sloat (Alice) of North Salem, IN; step-daughter, Carole Lee Cianciulli (Bob) of Glassboro, NJ; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Dr. Maurice Melton, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
