Sammy graduated from Harrison High School. He attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church.
He worked at Mid-America Clutch Company for 38 years. Sammy was a deer hunter, loved camping, and was a big NASCAR fan.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathleen; and brothers, Robert and Roger.
He is survived by three sons, Sammy Lee, Jr. of Evansville, Chris (Alesha) of Newburgh, and Jason of Evansville; brothers, Jimmy (Sue), George (Monique), and Mike (Lisa); sisters, Bettie Hassel (Frank) and Kathie Grayson (Jon); grandchildren, Jaxon, Keaton, Winter, Stevie, Seth, Camron, Abel, Jhasha Grayson, and Lindsey Eden; nieces, nephews, cousins, and former wife, Sherrie Carver (Jeff).
The family would like to thank all of the family and friends from the old neighborhood for their unending support. A special thanks to all the nurses at Deaconess Hospice.
Services will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert Nall. Friends may visit Tuesday, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
