Obituary of Roy Lee Tenney Sr.
Roy Lee Tenney, 85, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at North Park Nursing Center. He was born December 17, 1931, in Bridgeport, IL, to the late Everly V. and Stella L. (Cochran) Tenney. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and past and founding member of Nativity Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister at both St. Boniface and Nativity. Roy sang in the choir and was a song leader at Nativity. He also ran the weekly Bingo for over 20 years at Nativity and was lovingly referred to as Mr. Bingo. Roy was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Sterling Brewery as a supervisor. He enjoyed spending time his family and going camping. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brothers, Berle and Merle; sisters, Mary Jane Lewis, Pauline Harness, and June Gudgel; brothers, Ralph and John Tenney, Sr.; twin brother, Ray Tenney; and son-in-law, Bob Beasley. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Catherine (Rosenkranz) Tenney of Evansville; sons, Roy Jr. (Debbie) of St. Philip and Michael Tenney of Evansville; daughters, Tonya Beasley of Henderson and Jennifer (Bill) Cooper of Evansville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford Tenney of Escondido, CA; sister, Della Travis, Ft. Meyers, FL; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 AM Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church, 3635 Pollack Avenue, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue. The family would like to give a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice and North Park Nursing Center for the loving care they provided Roy.
