Melanie K. (Seibert) Powell, 59, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Melanie was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 29, 1957 to the late Elmer Carl and Mary Ellen (Calvert) Seibert. Melanie was a member of Zion Lippe United Church of Christ and Tri Kappa in Mount Vernon, IN. She was a member and past president of Southwestern Indiana Pharmacist Association and a friend of Bill W., Melanie was a pharmacist and worked at Welborn Hospital until it closed. She then worked for St. Marys Hospital Pharmacy and Guthries in Chandler. She enjoyed knitting and baking and loved spending time with her daughters and her dogs.
Throughout Melanie's life, in spite of her numerous life challenges, she remained strong. Her infectious laughter brought joy and comfort to everyone she met. Her strength will be instilled in the lives of her family and friends forever more.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Dr. David Powell of Mount Vernon; daughters, Hillary Powell and Hayley Powell both of Indianapolis, IN.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN with Pastor Jeff Long officiating. Entombment will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am until service time Thursday.
