Linda Sue Fickas, 84, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She was born June 26, 1940 in Evansville to the late Carl and Cleo (Rhoades) Bills.
She graduated from Bosse High School and married Dallas after high school. She had a deep love for all ice sports. Linda went to Sun Valley and competed in figure ice skating, became the first female ice hockey coach in the nation, and taught ice skating at Swonder for years. She also judged figure skating competitions. In addition to her passion for ice sports, she enjoyed listening to opera, worked, and volunteered for the Boy Scouts. She was a wonderful mother and worked for Mid-West Federal, later First Indiana, as an Executive Secretary for years.
Linda is survived by her sons, Gregg Fickas (Cindy) and their son, Wade Fickas, and Scott Fickas (Begene). Special thanks to Compassus Hospice Nurse, Erica Duckworth, and the staff at Brickyard Healthcare - Brentwood Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dallas Fickas Jr.; and granddaughter, Susan Fickas.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Greg Davis, with the final resting place in Alexander Memorial Park.
