Leo H. Greenwood, 85, of New Harmony, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Deaconess Hospital following an extended illness.
Leo was born March 22, 1938 at the family home in Breckenridge Co. Kentucky, to the late Floyd Leo and Martha White Greenwood.
Leo graduated from St. Rita’s Catholic School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, OH in 1957. He was a barber in Cloverport, Kentucky for 18 years where he made numerous lifelong friends.
In 1978 Leo married Sharon Martin and they resided in New Harmony, Indian. Leo worked and retired from the Red Geranium Restaurant. He attended Holy Angels Catholic Church in New Harmony and St. Matthew Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Leo was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, having many deer trophies on display in their home.
In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his siblings, Lois Voyles, Everett Greenwood, Mary Henderson, Theresa Alexander, Robert (Bob) Greenwood, George Greenwood, Larney Greenwood, and Joe Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Martin) Greenwood; and sister, Rita Hedinger; and nephew and caregiver, Douglas (Deborah) Parker; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; also, special friends, Betty Barnett and Debra Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
