Kerry Brent Murphy

Kerry Brent Murphy, 66, passed away April 6, 2016, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born June 4, 1949, in Evansville, to the late Charles Ralph Murphy, Jr. and Marjorie Marie (Newman) Murphy.
He attended Henry Reis, Millersburg and Castle High School where he excelled in track and field and was a graduate of the class of 1967. Kerry graduated from University of Evansville on May 6, 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1968. Kerry worked as a logger, for his family business, Murphy Engineering Co, and for Vectren in the Laboratory. He was a talented musician, played the guitar and had a sound like Bob Dylan. He performed at family gatherings, weddings, social clubs and groups. He was a sponsor to many, a member of Accent on Christ, a friend of Bill W's, a long time participant of Alcoholics Anonymous and had a great love for his fellow man.
Kerry is survived by mother, Marjorie Murphy; brother, Michael and his daughter, Erin; sisters, Janet (Rick)Watkins and her children, Michael Zeller, III and Jessica Nuffer; Kathleen (Shawn) Sweat and Keven Murphy; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was a current member of Hopelight Community Church, Newburgh, IN, where a celebration of Kerry’s life will be held 7:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2016 with Pastor Jerry T. Daniels officiating. Friends may visit 6:00 PM until service time on Friday at the church.
