John Earl Imel

John Earl Imel, 86, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 16, 1936 in Kansas City, MO, and raised by his mother, the late Estrella (Neumann) Imel. John's faith and church family were very important to him. He was a member of Howell General Baptist Church and the Challengers Sunday School Class. John retired from Mead Johnson as a Lab Technician after 44 years of employment. Before joining Mead’s, he worked for Heinlin Concrete. After retirement, John enjoyed working at the Ford Center. He attended Centennial and Reitz High School. John also attended Evansville Evening College. He was a member of the 1953 Reitz football state championship team. In 1954, John was selected to the Courier All-City Football Team. John is survived by his wife, Georgetta K. Imel; children, Scott (Madonna) Imel, Carla (Mike) Luigs, Mark (Jenifer) Imel, and Alicia (Jeff) Crowe); grandchildren, Ryan (Debra) Imel, Hisham (Zoe) Madi, Heba (Alex) Kempf, Saif (Katie) Madi, Naem (Amelia) Madi, Kaitlyn Moore, Jenni (Adam) Case, Drew (Jessica) Luigs, Nicholas Imel, Elizabeth (Adam) Massey, Caleb Crowe and Nathan Crowe; and 16 great grandchildren. John was an example to those around him in the way he faithfully cared for his mother. He loved his family and especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin at Alexander West Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Howell General Baptist Church.
