Jim was born in Evansville, IN to the late Clestol and Gracetta Bean. He served four years in the US Navy. He later worked at A&P before going to Alcoa, where he retired after 25 years. Jim had a booth at Southlane Flea Market for many years that he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to and teaching them about the business.
Jimmie found joy in being an active member at Creekside Baptist Church, reading his Bible, gardening, watching westerns and going out to eat with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud Bean and great-grandson, Brilon Pfingston.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Bean; daughters, Brenda Pfingston (Charles), and Barbara Fullerton (Mike); grandchildren, Jamie Horne (BJ), Jessica Neal (Matt), Jordan Fullerton (Rachel) and Joseph Pfingston; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Bean (Debbie) and many nieces and nephews.
He was a great husband, father, papaw, friend and person. Jim will be missed by many who find peace at this time in his relationship with Jesus and know he is at peace in Heaven.
The family would like to thank the staff of Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion, for Jim and our family.
