Jennie Ellen Hill, 89, of Evansville passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024. She was born September 17, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Chester and Mildred (Dodd) Staples.
She was a member of United General Baptist Church and was very involved with class parties at Trinity Lutheran School in Darmstadt, IN when her grandkids attended. Jennie volunteered for 20 years at North Park Nursing Center and was a member of the Auxiliary Volunteers. She was known to her family as “Grandma” and she lived her life for Jesus, her family, and grandchildren. Jennie had a heart of gold and a positive outlook on life, with her most famous words being “peace” and “harmony”. Her radiant smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryan K. Hill in 2017; infant son, Benny Lee Hill; son-in-law, Kerry Keck; sisters, Joan Phillips and Bonnie Staples; and brother, Chet Staples.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Keck; son, Bryan “Dave” Hill (Donna); Shannon, Sean (fiance, Sierra), Art-el and Sean, grandchildren, Donald Easton Keck, Jessie Ellen Kaffenberger (Andrew); and great granddaughter, Ellen Mae Kaffenberger.
For their care and compassion, her family would like to thank the staffs at Specialty Select Hospital, Heritage Hospice, Heritage Nursing Center (especially Destiny, Ashley, and Redina), and her special friend, Lisa.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd. Evansville, IN 47711, officiated by Rev. Raymond Abbott; with entombment to follow in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
