James (Jim) E. Salmon, 89, died on December 28, 2022, in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on October 14, 1933, in Aurora, Nebraska, to the late Royal and Lettie (Majors) Salmon. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Mindy Curtis-Salmon, and three of his siblings and their spouses, Irene Salmon, Bud (Adeline) Salmon, Charlene (Kenneth) Person.
He is survived by his wife of 68 ½ years, Bev (Zehr) Salmon, his sister, Jo Ellen (Gary) Ross, his two sons, Brad (Kim) Salmon and Bret Salmon, and his brother-in-law, Ron Beecher. Poppo Jim cherished his grandchildren “a bushel and a peck”: Tara Salmon, Kelsey (Sam) Gerhardt, Taylor (Tyler) Bliha, Sam (Alli Lindenschmidt) Curtis, Jake (Liz) Curtis, and two great grandchildren, Maggie and Gus Gerhardt.
Jim graduated from high school in Aurora, Nebraska where he excelled in many sports. Jim also served in the Army (1954-1955) in Korea. He graduated from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) in 1959 majoring in chemistry and bacteriology and obtained his MBA from the University of Evansville. He worked at Mead Johnson/Bristol Myers Squibb in Evansville, Indiana, from 1959 to 1992 in marketing. Following retirement, he worked at Clearcrest Pines Golf Course.
He was a 63-year member of Old North United Methodist Church and used his mechanical and “fix-it” abilities at home and in Habitat builds. He enjoyed all sports including golfing (especially his four hole-in-ones), fishing, and supporting the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Jim, who helped start Thompkins little league baseball, also enjoyed coaching his sons' sports teams, playing bridge, traveling in his RV, and spending time with his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Linda E. White Hospice House for the care and compassion they showed Jim.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m on Saturday, January 14th, 2023, at Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
