Obituary of James Ivy Jarvis
James Ivy Jarvis, 81, of Evansville, IN passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at The Terrace at Solarbron. He was born on February 12, 1941. James was retired from the US Coast Guard where he served on board the USS Escanaba. He was very proud of the 22 years of serving his country and was previously stationed in New Bedford, MA and Morro Bay, CA. He retired from George Koch Sons. After his retirement he enjoyed working part time for Professional Transportation Inc. transporting CSX employees to and from job sites. James was a volunteer for the German Township Fire Department and supporter of Disabled American Veterans. He also loved boating and cars. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Charlotte Jarvis; brother, Tony Jarvis; and sister-in-law, Donna Bennett-Barthel (Tony). James is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie (Harris) Jarvis; son, John Jarvis (Andrea); daughter, Julie Kempf (Steve); son, Ryan Hargett (Tammy); son, Brent Hargett (Brittany); grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Blake, Kaylie, Jordan, Brooke; great granddaughter, Selah; sister, Mary Lehmann (Don); sister’s-in- law, Mary Ellen Jarvis, Paula Markham (Jerry), Karen Harris; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin with entombment to follow in Alexander Memorial Park with full military rites. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or your favorite Veteran organization.
