Obituary of Howard Ellis Loge
Howard E. Loge, 93, of Evansville passed away 30 October 2018 at 11:30 AM. He was born 3 October 1925, to the late Henry and Elfredia (Kunze) Loge. Howard was of the Lutheran Church, a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1960. He graduated from F. J. Reitz High School, having studied at Mechanical Arts Vocational School for two years. Howard served in the U. S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater of Operations, wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a medical discharge 2 August 1945. Howard worked at Swanson Nunn Electric Co. until 1969 when he started Mount Vernon Electric Motors with two partners. He sold his share of the business and retired in 1985. Howard was a member of the Checkmates camping club, the Vagabond Square dancing and camping club, and the Hamilton Golf Club League. He and his wife Doris were married 7 February 1948 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Evansville. He and Doris were snowbirds, having spent 25 years wintering in South Texas, playing golf and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in November 2015, brothers Fredrich (Fred) Loge, Robert (Bob) Loge and Sister Juanita Beal. He is survived by sons Gary W. Loge of State College, PA and Curtis A. Loge (wife Margaret) of Columbus, OH, grandchildren Andrew S. Loge of Cleveland, OH, Heather T. Schriver of London, OH, Sarah J. Franciscus of Charleston, SC and Amelia M. McKinney of Fort Drum, NY, great-grandchildren Reiley Loge, Colten McKinney, Maxwell McKinney, Henry Schriver, and Oliver Loge. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank Pastor Esterline and Dr. Hardesty for their compassion and caring.
