Harold R. Miller, 91, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Pine Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Harold was born November 6, 1921 and was the oldest of five children. He married Doris (Brockmole) Miller on June 12, 1943 at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Harold was a 1940 graduate of Bosse High School. He was a member of the Eagles Country Club, and a life member of Charles Denby VFW Post 2953. He served in the Army during WWII and received two Bronze Stars and a European Theatre Medal. After returning from the service he worked in the office of Servel until their closing. He worked for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation from February 4, 1959 and retired in July 1984. He and his wife spent many summers traveling and fishing.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Mary Miller; brothers, Earl Miller and Wayne Miller; and a sister Betty Schele.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Miller of Evansville; brother, Gene Miller of Evansville; sister-in-laws, Laura Miller and Martha Brockmole; caregiver and niece, Monica Voelker, and her husband Charles and many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation and Heritage Hospice for the care he received.
There will be no visitation.
