Gilbert "Sonny" Schoenbaechler

Gilbert “Sonny” Schoenbaechler, 62, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born on January 24, 1950 in Fort Knox, KY to the late Gilbert & Joyce Schoenbachler. Sonny was a Master Sargent in the U.S. Army Reserves for 29 years. He was a life member of VFW #1114, American Legion Post 265, and Moose Lodge in Mt. Vernon, IN. He was employed by Bristol Meyers, Pepsi Cola, an Insurance Agent, and worked security at G.E. Sonny was dedicated to volunteer work with VFW, Hadi Shrine, and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his best friend, Wiletta Schoenbaechler; children, Janet Schoenbaechler, Kevin Schoenbaechler, Mark Schoenbaechler, and Karen Herron; grandchildren, Lexi Schoenbaechler, Aubery Rickard, Brayden Herron, Emmalee Schoenbaechler, and Brylee Herron; brothers, David Schoenbaechler and Bob Schoenbaechler; and sister, Carol Gott. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Alexander North Chapel with burial at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time.
