Obituary of Gary Wayne Estes
Gary Wayne Estes, 65, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 17, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, to James “Jim” and Ruby (Herrenbruck) Estes. Gary grew up on Evansville’s Westside and graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 1977. Following high school, he dedicated 43 years to Industrial Contractors Inc., beginning as a construction laborer in Laborers Local 561 and rising to the role of Construction Superintendent. Known for his relentless work ethic, Gary took immense pride in being a devoted provider for his family. He formed countless lifelong friendships through his career, for which he was especially grateful to the Braun family for providing the foundation for his professional success. In retirement, Gary fully embraced his role as a family man, finding joy in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His greatest pride was in being a loving presence to his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. While he had a passion for hunting, his family was always his top priority. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dana (Lively) Estes; his sons, Tony (Jessica) Estes and Andy Estes; his mother, Ruby Estes; his brother, Robert Estes; his sister, Donna Estes; father-in-law, Allen Lively; his sister-in-law, Kathy Corn; his brother-in-law, Kelly Corn; his cherished grandchildren, Anthony Estes and Thomas Estes; and his nephews, Brennen Estes and Jared Estes, and nieces, Jennifer Corn and Ashley (Kaleb) Reiken. Gary was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Estes; his mother-in-law, Patricia Lively; and his granddaughter, Caroline Estes. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion during Gary’s final days.
