Obituary of Felicia Yvonne Simmons
Felicia Yvonne Pitt Simmons, 77, of Evansville, Indiana, transitioned to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. On February 6, 1947, she took her first breath of life and was birthed by the late Pastor Elder Jesse C. H. Pitt and District Missionary Clara Elizabeth Pitt of Evansville, Indiana. She was reared in Evansville and is the fourteenth child of twenty siblings. Felicia was a graduate of Central High School. She attended the University of Evansville and was a graduate of Lockyear Small Business College. She attended C. H. Mason Bible School and was a teacher of the Women’s Class in the C. H. Mason Bible Institute. Felicia surrendered her life totally to Christ at fifteen years of age and began to seek God with her whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. God began to speak to her through His Word, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33) God has blessed her abundantly through His Word both naturally and spiritually. To God Be The Glory! Supervisor Felicia Y. Simmons has been active in ministry since 1965. She served in major positions at the local, district, and state levels in The Church of God in Christ, INC. She was the founder of the Women of Destiny women’s ministry. She served as District YPWW Chairlady and a District Missionary of Shiloh District, where her husband, Dr. William W. Simmons Sr. served as Superintendent. She served as an appointed Assistant Supervisor to Supervisor Ida Mae Sanders and Supervisor of Indiana 2nd Jurisdiction Department of Women under Bishop B.A. Sanders, Prelate, for 10 years and was currently serving as Supervisor of Women in Pakistan Jurisdiction of Tennessee under Bishop George Adebanjo, Prelate. Supervisor Felicia Y. Simmons served alongside her husband of 54 years, Dr. William W. Simmons Sr. as they faithfully served Panama City COGIC, Panama City, Panama, Holy Tabernacle, Henderson, KY., Progressive Holy Temple COGIC, Evansville, IN. and Greater Holy Temple Family Worship Center, Princeton, IN as the Senior Leaders and are the Overseers of Showers of Inspiration Ministries International. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Clara Pitt; siblings, George Pitt (Emma), Celeste Clement (Sylvester), Ruby Marshall (James), Norman Pitt (Shirley), Jesse Pitt (Kelly), Sadie Barker (Nathaniel), Sydney Pitt, Alvin Pitt (Gloria), Velma Alexander (Curtis), Clarice Williams (Charles), Clarissa Williams; and great-grandson Kaiden. Felicia is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. William W. Simmons Sr.; daughter, Alicia Simmons; son, William “Bill” Simmons Jr.; daughter, Shanese Dozier (Levon); son, Timothy W. Simmons Sr (Shavonna); siblings, Glenn Pitt (Nancy), Oberia Campbell, Verla Jones, Dwight Pitt (Dorothy), Bonita Pitt, Michael Emmanuel, Sharis Pitt-New, Sherman Pitt (Cindy); 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mother Felicia Y. Simmons was an anointed, God-fearing woman who was totally committed to God, her family, and her congregations. She believed that we must live by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God and if we pray about it, it will all work out. Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Greater Holy Temple, 202 East Pinkney Street, Princeton, Indiana 47670 and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Bread of Life Kingdom Ministries, 1700 Pollack Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47714. Friends may also visit from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at The Assembly, 4330 North Burkhardt Road, Evansville, Indiana 47715. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at The Assembly with Pastor Lavon Dozier officiating. Entombment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
