Elizabeth Dallahan Hicks

Elizabeth D. (Betty) Hicks passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Heritage Center. She was born on December 16, 1924 in Boston, MA. She attended public schools in Canton, MA, her hometown, and entered Chandler Business College in 1943. In 1947 she met Fred L. (Bud) Hicks and they were married in 1949. Their only child, Jeffrey, was born 1950. A career opportunity brought the family to Evansville in 1967, where they have been members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. In 1972 a charismatic prayer group was founded in their home. It grew from eight curious attendees to a group of over 1,000 during its 18 year life, and Betty was the loving hospitable hostess throughout. All who knew her loved her. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bud; son, Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Judy; and grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Parish, 918 West Mill Road, Evansville, officiated by Father Paul Ferguson with entombment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel.
