Edward Kirk Keller (Ed) of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the age of fifty-nine, surrounded by family. He was born on December 23, 1963 in Evansville where he grew up on the west side.
He graduated from Reitz High School and went on to the police academy. Ed had always wanted to help people and graduating from the police academy was a proud accomplishment for him. He met the love of his life and had two daughters as he began his career as an officer with the Evansville Police Department. Ed served his community with pride and compassion. He was a police officer for thirty-six years, retiring in 2022.
He was excited to have new adventures in his life as a retired man. Ed was an avid comic book collector. He enjoyed going to comic stores, movies, and conventions with his best friend, Vince. Ed loved road trips, music, and really bad “dad jokes.” Ed was quick-witted, smart, and kind.
He is preceded in death by his mother (Nina Jean), sister (Dottie), and brother (Lester).
He is survived by his wife (Dawn), daughter (Jade), son-in-law (Brian), granddaughters (Madison and Sarah), daughter (Holly), and soon to be son-in-law (Bo), brothers, Jay and Sam Keller, along with extended family and countless friends who loved him dearly.
Ed’s family would like to thank the 2900 ICU team at Deaconess Midtown for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. We will be forever grateful for all of your hard work.
